Extra Crispy Onion Rings

Making onion rings in surprisingly easy and worth the effort. 

Extra Crispy Onion Rings

Ingredients
1 large sweet onion
1/2 cup flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups panko
Canola Oil, for frying

Directions
Slice the onion into into 1/4 to 1/3 inch rings. Separate the largest and reserve the smaller ones for other uses.

Heat 2 to 3 inches of canola oil in a large frying pan.

Combine the flour, baking powder, salt and paprika in a medium bowl. Coat each onion ring in the flour mixture and set aside

Add the milk, egg, salt and pepper to the left over flour mixture, Beat well until no lumps remain Coat each onion ring in the mixture and shake away the excess Dip into panko.

When the oil reaches a temperature of 375, fry the onion rings for two to three minutes until browned and crispy. Drain on paper towels before serving.
